The biggest event in the global IT sector is ITU Telecom World.
It is an annual event that brings together all the critical stakeholders and players in IT space at a global stage. Sectors like telecoms, finance, ERPs and consumables as well as consumers are well represented. This year, the event was hosted in Durban, South Africa.
As one of Nigeria’s startup delegations to the ITU World 2018, it was an opportunity for VoguePay to showcase its innovative financial technology to the global market. VoguePay was represented at the event by Mohammed Ibrahim Jega, our director of business development.
Mr. Jega spoke glowingly about the event.
Below are his recaps.
High-impact event sessions
He was particularly excited about his presentation which shared the journey of the VoguePay and its new project: the digital bank project.
He recalled the excitement of the audience when they heard the success story and the impact that VoguePay has made in changing the face of commerce by making it easy to send and receive payment globally.
Other highlights of the event included several presentations and networking session.
Promote global visibility.
According to him, one of the biggest Impacts of the 4-day event for startups is their exposure to international communities.
The event accorded selected startups the exposure to exhibit their product and services to the international community. This is because there were special booth for SMEs and startups to exhibit.
In the Nigeria pavilion, each of the six startups got an exhibition booth.

Diversity at its best.
Football is not the only thing uniting the world and breaking racial boundaries.
The event had participants from all over the world. The main benefit is that the diversity offered the attendees the opportunity to explore potentials and best practices from other market.
It is notable that hosting the event in South Africa also meant there was a lot of people of African origin in attendance. For example, in this picture, VoguePay’s Jega Mohammed shared his seat with nationals from Tunisia and Togo and other African countries.
One of the biggest opportunities an event of this scale offers is growing your network.
The right contact (with industry bigwigs and key stakeholders) is something that can have immense value on the growth of any business.
While Jega made the best use of the moment, it was tough convincing him to share those business cards that he collected with you.
But he happily agreed to share the pictures 🙂
Here are some of them.

It’s a wrap.
To wrap up the whole experience, Jega says, ” it is good to be finally back home, especially, when you came back with a load of opportunities to explore”.
“Now is time to get back to work, reconnect with partners and launch new opportunities that the ITU World 2018 brought about for VoguePay”.
P.S: We say a big thank you to Nigeria Communications Commission for selecting VoguePay for this unique experience.
